Today’s Chase: North Alabama
Today we will be chasing to the north of the I-20/59 area toward the Cullman or Huntsville area where the higher tornado threat is progged. This area will also have the potential to produce quite a magnitude of hail with any good thunderstorms that develop. The low level winds are still backed out of the southeast and the sun is now beginning to come out across portions of the threatened area. This will maintain low level shear and allow for an unstable environment to develop as the upper level trough interacts. We expect isolated to scattered supercell thunderstorms this afternoon with all modes of severe weather. This threat will be rather short lived, but it only takes one tornado to cause damage to property and death.
We plan to deploy by 9AM toward the north. Our live streaming video and chat will be available as always HERE! Keep in mind….these storms likely won’t be widespread, but in areas they do form they will pack a serious punch. Stay tuned….we will be updating throughout the day with photos and reports if anything breaking occurs.
